NUDIBRANCHS

NATURE’S MINIATURE MARVELS

Whilst we all love to see the larger species of marine life, such as Manta Rays and Whale Sharks during our Similan Islands Diving Liveaboard, let’s not forgot our smaller friends of the ocean and the huge variety of colour, shape, and form they offer during most dives across the Similan and Surin National Marine Parks.

With over three thousand known species (and counting), the Nudibranch family really do challenge your mind’s eye of natures creative genius and what is possible when the need for adaption is the only course for survival.

Displaying vivid colours, crazy carved shapes, and varying feelers and sensory organs, it can be very difficult at times to judge which end is which when observing these tiny creatures. In addition, some species can be as small as a quarter of an inch long which makes the search even more challenging to the untrained eye.

Luckily for our guests on-board MV Oktavia our highly trained dive guides are experts at seeking out and finding this unending catalog of the oceans favourite sea-slug.

During one of our 5 Day Similan Liveaboard Cruises our guests have the opportunity to dive up to 19 times through the Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, and Richelieu Rock.  All dive sites offer the chance to find a new type of Nudibranch and our last dive of the trip at the BoonSung Wreck is particularly know for its abundance of mini marine life.

The Similan Islands Diving season starts on-board MV Oktavia on the 28th October.  Join us as we explore the delights of Thailand’s Best Dive Sites and on one of Khao Lak’s largest and best value for money Similan Liveaboardvessels.
